Living in an overseas area, our internet connection is not stable enough to listen to the Democracy Now programs via "streaming". Therefore, downloading the program audio file (as opposed to "streaming") seems to work best. However, even the mp3 files are large and somewhat difficult to download with the unstable connection.....does anyone know if the Democracy Now programs are available for download in a file format that is smaller than mp3....say for example, like the .rm (real player) format?

Real Audio files are not downloadable, they only stream. The Real Audio files on www.democracynow.org are encoded for a 28.8 modem or better so your dialup connection should be able to handle playing it back. And for a 59 minute recording, 28 megs isn't bad. Eventually there will be a .ogg file that's smaller then the mp3 but that's an archive.org project and I imagine they have a lot on their plate, considering the wonderful service they provide to the world.
